Jozani Forest Tour

150$ 2pax

The Jozani woodland is primarily renowned for its indigenous to Zanzibar kirks red colobus monkeys (kima punju in swahili). The monkeys were formerly thought to be on the verge of extinction, but thanks to the conservation project, that trend has since reversed. In Jozani Forest, there are approximately 6000 red colobus monkeys. Jozani Forest is home to a variety of animals, including sykes and red colobus monkeys, bush pigs, Ader's duiker and suni antelopes, elephant shrews, chameleons, and a variety of birds. After seeing the monkeys, head over to the Pete-Jozani Mangrove Boardwalk, which winds its way through coral thicket flora, mangrove forest, and across a creek. You'll stroll through a mangrove forest, which is vital to Zanzibar's ecosystems since it provides a home for numerous lizards, snakes, and birds, as well as avoiding coastal erosion.

Stone Town is 38 kilometers southeast of Jozani Forest. The Jozani Chwaka Bay Conservation Project was established in 1995 to safeguard the last remaining section of Zanzibar's indigenous ground-water forest. The project involves local communities, and a portion of your admission money goes toward development programs and compensation for local farmers whose crops are frequently damaged by red colobus monkeys.
